Dallas Cowboys’ attempt at bolstering offensive line depth suffers setback
The Dallas Cowboys thought they were bolstering their offensive line depth with a trade earlier this week but that has suffered a setback, at least for Week 1. Dallas placed guard Parker Ehinger on the injured reserve list and signed Kadeem Edwards to take his place Friday morning.
Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said Ehinger was injured during practice. Dallas opens the season against the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte, N.C., on Sunday.
“His knee started to bother him so he wasn’t not able to finish,” he said. “We’ll see [if it’s anything serious]. It’s day to day right now.”
The Cowboys acquired Ehinger for in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs for cornerback Charvarius Ward earlier this week. Ehinger, who was a fourth-round pick in 2016, will provide depth at guard and tackle. He played only guard for the Chiefs but was a tackle in college at Cincinnati. His versatility made Chaz Green and Edwards (briefly) expendable. Edwards was cut when the 53-man roster was announced on Saturday.
Ehinger was limited at Wednesday’s practice and was not available on Thursday or Friday.
