The Dallas Cowboys have had plenty of success at finding hidden gems when they sign undrafted free agents. Look no further than quarterback Tony Romo, who went undrafted out of Eastern Illinois.

So the Cowboys would like to continue that trend going forward, and executive vice president Stephen Jones believes they will sign a solid core group of undrafted free agents. Among those in this year’s class include Baylor wide receiver Antwan Goodley and TCU defensive tackle Chucky Hunter.

“I’ve seen some numbers that show us as one of the best at finding college free agents that tend to come in and make a difference,” Jones said. “We’ll continue to take a lot of pride in that. I don’t think it’s by accident. [Coach Jason Garrett] certainly encourages his coaching staff to be big time involved in terms of the recruiting process. Obviously, our scouts do a heck of a job of pinpointing the guys when the draft is over to go get.

“It’s a priority for us.”

Garrett echoed that message and gave some insight as to why the Cowboys are an attractive place for undrafted free agents to sign.

“We have a real commitment as an organization to keep the best guys,” Garrett said. “It really doesn’t matter where you come from. We don’t care if you’re drafted in the first round or you’re a college free agent who just got here. We’re going to give you a chance to show who you are and how you can contribute to this football team.”

The Cowboys have yet to release an official list of their undrafted free agent signings, but the Star-Telegram has compiled the following list based on Twitter posts from players, agents and schools.

Here is a list of players who have been publicly announced as future Cowboys: offensive linemen Shane McDermott (Miami) and Daniel Quave (Louisiana-Lafayette); defensive backs Joel Ross (Appalachian State) and Ray Vinopal (Pitt); wide receivers Goodley (Baylor), Nick Harwell (Kansas), Lucky Whitehead (Florida Atlantic) and Deontay Greenberry (Houston); tight end Ray Hamilton (Iowa); running back Synjyn Days (Georgia Tech); quarterback Jameill Showers (UTEP); and defensive tackle Hunter (TCU).
