Coach Jason Garrett poses possibility of losing out to falling Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are trending in the wrong direction.

After winning three consecutive games to get to 5-3 at the halfway mark, the Cowboys have been non-competitive in two blowout losses to the Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles by scores of 27-7 and 37-9, respectively.

The past two games have come without suspended star running back Ezekiel Elliott, Pro Bowl left tackle Tyron Smith and Pro Bowl linebacker Sean Lee.

It’s been so bad on offense that the Cowboys have just one touchdown on 23 drives the past two games combined.

With the Los Angeles Chargers coming up on Thanksgiving on a short week, Garrett was frank with his deflated team in the post-game locker room Sunday.

The 5-5 Cowboys, who are still hoping to stay alive in the wild-card playoff chase until Elliott returns from a six-game suspension Dec. 24, can go one of two directions.

“Coach Garrett couldn’t put it in better words in giving our options all the way down from 11-5 to 5-11,” quarterback Dak Prescott said. “It’s up to us to figure out what we want to do.”
