Standout wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will not play for the New York Giants tonight.

That’s a break for the Dallas Cowboys as Beckham is one of the top receivers in the game. He’s the most notable inactive going into tonight’s game.

From the Cowboys side, Kellen Moore will serve as the backup quarterback.

The Cowboys opted to go with the veteran Moore instead of undrafted rookie Cooper Rush even though Rush out-played Moore in the preseason.

The Giants are known for their deceptive defensive looks, which likely played a factor into the Cowboys’ decision to go with the more veteran option.

Moore, 28, has only experience in three regular-season games but has been in the league since 2012. In his three games, including two starts, in the 2015 season, Moore was 61-of-104 passing for 779 yards with four touchdowns and six interceptions.

In the preseason, though, Moore was 32-of-59 for 392 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

Rush, on the other hand, impressed by going 38-of-51 passes for 398 yards and six touchdowns with no interceptions in the preseason. He had a 135.9 passer rating, the best of any quarterback in the preseason.

The other notable inactive for the Cowboys is running back Darren McFadden. He had been penciled in as the running back who would start in place of Ezekiel Elliott, who faced a six-game suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

But Alfred Morris played well in the preseason, and Rod Smith is considered a better special teams option.

The rest of the Cowboys inactives include defensive backs Bene Benwikere and Jourdan Lewis (hamstring); offensive lineman Jonathan Cooper; wide receiver Noah Brown; and linebacker Anthony Hitchens (knee).

Along with Beckham, the Giants inactives include quarterback Davis Webb, wide receiver Tavarres King, running back Wayne Gallman Jr., linebacker Keenan Robinson, offensive lineman D.J. Fluker and tight end Matt LaCosse.

The Cowboys beat the Giants 19-3 Sunday night.
