The NFL has been granted permission by the Mecklenburg County [N.C.] District Attorney’s Office to examine photographs from Greg Hardy’s domestic violence trial, according to multiple reports.

That decision could expedite the league’s decision on how to discipline the newly signed Dallas Cowboys defensive end. Most believe Hardy will receive between a four- to six-game suspension to start the 2015 season after spending most of last season on the commissioner’s exempt list because of the incident.

The seven photos reportedly show injuries sustained by Hardy’s ex-girlfriend, Nicole Holder, during an altercation between the two last May. The NFL’s medical experts, as well as Hardy and the NFL Players Association, will have access to see the photos, which will remain in the prosecutors’ possession.

The photos were not part of the case file that Charlotte-Mecklenburg police turned over to the NFL in February, and the league filed a lawsuit last month to obtain the photos.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said last week that he expects to make a decision in the Hardy case in the “near future,” and this should only speed up the process.

In another development, the Cowboys signed defensive end Efe Obada on Wedensday.

Obada played one season (2014) at defensive end for the London Warriors of the British American Football Association National Leagues.
