Chaz Green exits Cowboys preseason game with ankle injury
Injury concerns continue to plague Chaz Green.
The Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman exited Saturday’s game late in the second quarter with an ankle injury and headed straight to the locker room. Green started at left guard and may be the best option for that job on the Cowboys roster.
But Green can’t seem to stay on the field. He exited Tuesday’s training camp practice with cramps, but returned Wednesday.
Green has battled injuries ever since he joined the Cowboys as a third-round pick in 2015. He missed his entire rookie season with a hip injury, and played only four games, including two starts at left tackle, last season with foot and back injuries.
The injuries continue to pop up this training camp. Green had a shoulder injury the first week of camp, which sidelined him the first two preseason games.
Jonathan Cooper may win the left guard job by default. Cooper, a former first-round pick, had the inside track to the job but the Cowboys have given others plenty of looks. Green and Byron Bell have gotten first-team reps at left guard, and veteran Joe Looney is another option outside of Cooper.
