Cowboys DE David Irving fined by NFL, says he ‘learned my lesson’
Cowboys defensive end David Irving said he heard from the league office and received a fine for his actions that got him ejected in Sunday’s game at Cleveland.
Irving was fined for unnecessary roughness as opposed for fighting, and an ESPN report said the amount was $9,115.
“They reached out to me,” Irving said. “And I definitely learned my lesson. It won’t happen again. I can tell you that much.”
Irving threw a punch at Browns center Cameron Erving on the fifth play of the game, and both were ejected.
Irving and defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli discussed the incident.
“I just said you look really fresh this week,” Marinelli said.
