Rookie quarterback Dak Prescott continued his hot start to the season in leading the Cowboys to a 24-3 halftime lead against the Chicago Bears Sunday night at AT&T Stadium.

But he got help from the running game and the defense in what was the most impressive and complete performance by a Cowboys team in years.

A year after rushing for just eight touchdowns all season, the Cowboys scored three on the ground in the first half, one by Prescott, one by Alfred Morris and one by Lance Dunbar.

The rushed for 135 yards in the first half, led by 13 for 76 from rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott.

Prescott still has yet to throw a touchdown in three games, but he was near perfect via the pass, completing 12 of 15 passes for 139 yards.

He opened the game with a 10-play, 75-yard scoring driving, capped his own 1-yard run. It marked his second rushing touchdown this season, setting a new team record for rushing touchdowns by a rookie quarterback.

But this was not just about Prescott and the Cowboys offense. The defense held the Bears to 114 yards and just four first downs.

The Cowboys actually led 13-0 in first downs, 201-18 yards and 14:38-4:11 in time of possession as well as a 17-0 lead early in the second quarter before a 36-yard run by Jordan Howard set up a Bears field goal.

Prescott and the Cowboys simply answered with a 12- play, 73-yard drive, taking 7:09 off the clock before Morris’ 3-yard run made the score 24-3.

Dunbar’s score was from 1 yard out. The Cowboys have total of seven rushing touchdowns this season after scoring eight on the ground in 2015.
