Key matchup to watch in Sunday’s Cowboys-Giants game

Giants defensive end Olivier Vernon vs. Cowboys left tackle Tyron Smith: Vernon received an $85 million contract this off-season and will be looking to prove he’s worth it. He doesn’t get an easy task in Week 1 against the Cowboys’ Tyron Smith, an All-Pro considered to be among the best in the league. But Vernon had success against Smith last year as a member of the Miami Dolphins. Vernon beat Smith for a sack, four quarterback hits and two tackles for loss. Smith must shut down Vernon and keep blindside pressure off rookie quarterback Dak Prescott.
