The NFL and CBS Sports announce first-ever alternate Super Bowl telecast aimed at kids
The NFL and CBS Sports announced Tuesday that Nickelodeon will host a kid-centered telecast of Super Bowl LVIII. This will be the first alternate telecast of the Super Bowl on a different network.
The NFL and Nickelodeon created the “NFL on Nickelodeon,” a telecast focused on displaying silly graphics displaying slime or popular characters like Spongebob Squarepants during live NFL broadcasts to introduce younger children to the game of football.
The first game aired under the partnership was the 2021 NFL Wild Card game between the Chicago Bears and the New Orleans Saints.
The Dallas Cowboys 2022 Wild Card game against the San Francisco 49ers was also alternatively broadcast on “NFL on Nickelodeon.”
This season will also mark the first time Nickelodeon will broadcast two games, the Super Bowl and the Christmas Day game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Las Vegas Raiders.
