A running blog on everything to know about the 2023 NFL schedule release.

Although the NFL will not announce their full schedule until Thursday at 7 p.m. (on the NFL Network), they are releasing notable games in advance.

While we continue to wait word on any Dallas Cowboys games, here is what we know so far:

Chiefs, Lions open season

The defending champion Kansas City Chiefs will host the Detroit Lions in the season-opening game on Sept. 7 . The game will be broadcast on NBC at 7:20 p.m. CT.

Aaron Rodgers’ Jets debut

The new New York Jets quarterback will make his debut on the Monday Night Football opener on Sept. 11 at 7:15 p.m. CT when the Jets host the Buffalo Bills. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.

Cowboys open on the road

The Dallas Cowboys’ open their season on Sept. 10 at the New York Giants, then come home to face the New York Jets and Rodgers in Week 2.

Christmas Day game

The Chiefs will also host a game on Christmas. The Chiefs will host the Raiders. The game begins at noon CT and will be broadcast on CBS.

NFC heavyweight battle

The Dallas Cowboys will face the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara, Calif., on Oct. 8 at 7:20 p.m.

The Week 5 game will be broadcast on NBC.

The 49ers knocked the Cowboys out of the playoffs the last two seasons.

European matchups set

The NFL announced their complete European games. This season, the NFL will play three games in London and two games in Germany. And for the first time, a NFL team — the Jacksonville Jaguars — will play in back-to-back games in London.

The international schedule:

Oct. 1 (Week 4): Atlanta vs. Jacksonville, Wembley Stadium, London

Oct. 8 (Week 5): Jacksonville vs. Buffalo, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London

Oct. 15 (Week 6): Baltimore vs Tennessee, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London

Nov. 5 (Week 9): Miami vs. Kansas City, Frankfurt Stadium, Frankfurt

Nov. 12 (Week 10): Indianapolis vs. New England, Frankfurt Stadium, Frankfurt

Black Friday football

The NFL is expanding its Thanksgiving football weekend. Not only will there be three games on Turkey Day as usual (those games have yet to be announced, but it’s a safe bet the Lions and Cowboys will host games), the NFL has scheduled a game for Black Friday.

The New York Jets and Miami Dolphins will meet on Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. CT. The game will be streamed on Prime Video.

Giants-Eagles on Christmas

The Philadelphia Eagles will host the New York Giants on Christmas at Lincoln Field. Yes, the city whose fans once bombarded Santa Claus with snowballs will host a Christmas game.

New Year’s Eve blockbuster

Word has leaked that Week 17 will feature a rematch of the past two AFC champions. The Kansas City Chiefs will host the Cincinnati Bengals on Dec. 31 at 3:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on CBS.
