How many former Dallas-Fort Worth area high school players were selected in the NFL Draft?

The 2023 NFL Draft has commenced and multiple players from the Dallas-Fort Worth area have been selected.

Christian Gonzalez

Gonzalez starred at The Colony High School where he earned a four-star recruiting ranking from 247 Sports. Gonzalez was selected with the No. 17 pick by the New England Patriots.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba

The Ohio State wide receiver was selected with the No. 20 pick by the Seattle Seahawks. Smith-Njigba attended Rockwall High School and was on Sports Illustrated and USA Today’s 2019 All-American High School team.

Steve Avila

The TCU fan favorite was selected by the Los Angeles Rams with the No. 36 pick, Avila is the second TCU player taken in the draft. Avial went to South Grand Prairie High School where he was a four-star recruit.

Rashee Rice

SMU star and North Richland High School alumnus Rashee Rice was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs with the No. 55 pick in the draft. Rice will be joining one of the best offenses in the NFL and will try to help the Chiefs get back to the Super Bowl.

Marvin Mims Jr

Marvin Mims Jr starred at Lone Star High School and was a USA Today High School All-American before attending the University of Oklahoma. Mims was drafted by the Denver Broncos with the No. 63 pick in the draft.

Drew Sanders

Sanders will be joining Marvin Mins in Denver, Sanders was selected with the No. 67 pick. Sanders attended Colleyville Heritage High School and then went on to star at the University of Arkansas.

Tyler Lacey

Lacey attended Sachse High School where he became a three-star player before attending Oklahoma State University. Lacey made several All-Big 12 teams while a member of the Cowboys

Clayton Tune

The first local quarterback to be taken was Clayton Tune who was drafted with the No. 139 selection. Tune attended Hebron High School where he was a dual-threat QB before attending the University of Houston.

Brayden Willis

Willis was drafted in the seventh round by the San Francisco 49ers with the No. 247 pick. Willis played tight end for the Oklahoma Sooners after starring at Martin High School in Arlington where he was a three-star recruit.
