How many players from Texas are in Super Bowl LVII?

The Cowboys aren’t playing, but that doesn’t mean that Super Bowl LVII doesn’t have a Texas flavor.

Almost two dozen players with Texas ties will compete when the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles meet at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on Feb. 12, at 5:30 p.m. CT.

The state is well represented by a plethora of players including both starting quarterbacks who are native Texans. Here’s a breakdown of Texas players in Super Bowl LVII.

The Philadelphia Eagles

Jalen Hurts: The starting quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles was born in Houston and attended Channelview High School before his prolific college and NFL career.

Grant Calcaterra: A backup tight end for the Eagles, Calcaterra attended SMU for a year after transferring from Oklahoma.

Lane Johnson: The All-Pro tackle is a native of Groveton and attended Kilgore College where he played quarterback before he transferred to Oklahoma.

Kyron Johnson: The backup linebacker hails from Arlington. Johnson won All Big-12 honors as a member of the Kansas Jayhawks before being drafted by the Eagles.

Zech McPhearson: Cornerback attended Texas Tech for two seasons before he was drafted by the Eagles in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Robert Quinn: The veteran defensive end played for the Dallas Cowboys for a season in 2019.

Milton Williams: Born in Crowley, Williams attended Louisiana Tech before selected by the Eagles in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Jarrid Williams: A backup offensive tackle from Cedar Hill, Williams attended Houston for five seasons before transferring to the University of Miami to finish out his college career.

Tristin McCollum: A backup cornerback from Galveston, McCollum attended Sam Houston State before signing with the Eagles.

Kennedy Brooks: From Mansfield, Brooks was the winner of the Landry Award in 2016. The Landry Award is given to the top high school player in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

Tyrie Cleveland: Hailing from Houston, Cleveland attended Westfield High School before attending the University of Florida.

Tyrese Robinson: A practice squad offensive lineman from McKinney.

Marvin Wilson: A defensive tackle from Houston, Wilson attended Florida State before signing with the Eagles.

Greg Ward Jr: The practice squad wide receiver is from Tyler and attended the University of Houston where he garnered two All-AAC selections.

The Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes II: A NFL Super Bowl and regular season MVP who has rewritten the NFL record books. Mahomes was born in Tyler and played his high school football at Whitehouse High School. Mahomes then attended Texas Tech before drafted by the Chiefs in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft.

Blake Bell: A backup tight end, Bell spent the 2020 season with the Dallas Cowboys.

Nick Bolton: The starting middle linebacker for the Chiefs, Bolton was born in Frisco and went to Lone Star High School.

Shane Buechele: The third-string quarterback from Arlington, Buechele went to Lamar High School and then attended Texas and SMU.

Ronald Jones II: Attended McKinney North High School and won a Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Lucas Niang: An All-Big 12 offensive lineman who played his entire college career at TCU.

Justin Reid: Played four seasons with the Houston Texans.

Austin Reiter: A practice squad offensive lineman born in Arlington, Texas.
