Signing Day started with a flipped bird, flipped schools and fan bases flipping out
Few sports fans get saltier than college football fans.
And college football fans hardly ever get more worked up than on National Signing Day.
Who do we have coming in? Who did we lose? Who did we flip?
Some of the reactions, of course, go over the line and show a huge lack of decorum with a segment of nearly after team’s fan base. There has been a movement to call out those who go after a young athlete for either struggling on the field, or heaven forbid, decide to sign with a different school. Unfounded accusations of recruits getting money or cars from “bag men” or car dealerships are often thrown out by fans of a school sees one of their top targets flipping to another school.
Social pressure has improved some of the public commentary aimed at high school kids. Of course, private message boards for individual schools can still be really nasty.
Some of theme comments posted on Twitter use strong language so be advise.
It’s an ugly side of the day that is supposed to be a magical moment in these young athlete’s lives.
