Carolina Panthers promote Keller Central’s Zack Sanchez to 53-man roster
Carolina rookie cornerback Zack Sanchez, a former Keller Central and University of Oklahoma star, was promoted from the practice squad to the 53-man roster on Friday, according to the Charlotte Observer.
The Panthers cut starter Bene’ Benwikere.
Atlanta gutted the Panthers last week when Matt Ryan passed for a team-record 503 yards and four touchdowns in a 48-33 win. Wide receiver Julio Jones caught 12 passes for 300 yards.
Sanchez, who will wear jersey number 31, was selected in the fifth round out of Oklahoma. He was a two-time All-Big 12 performer for the Sooners and entered the draft after his junior season in the spring.
Carolina hosts Tampa Bay Monday night.
