DALLAS – Center Tyson Chandler will be sidelined for Wednesday’s home game against the Utah Jazz with a sprained left ankle.
However, the Dallas Mavericks are still waiting the results of an MRI conducted Tuesday morning to determine the fate of shooting guard Monta Ellis for the game against the Jazz.
Ellis limped off the court Monday night in the first quarter of the 115-98 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers with a left hip injury – less than three minutes after Chandler left the same game with his ankle injury.
Of Chandler’s injury, coach Rick Carlisle is hopeful that the week-long All-Star break will help facilitate his healing process to the point where he could be ready to play in the first game after the break – Feb. 19 at Oklahoma City.

"It’s going to keep him out for sure tomorrow (against the Jazz),’’ Carlisle said. "But with the rest period of the break we think there’s a good chance he can be a lot better when we get back, but we’ll see.’’
Ellis’ status isn’t so concrete.
"Monta had a MRI this morning and we don’t have the results yet,’’ Carlisle said. "We’ll let you know when we have them.
"We would list him as doubtful at this point.’’
