DALLAS – In an attempt to avoid surgery which could keep him out much longer, Dallas Mavericks point guard Rajon Rondo will miss the next three games as he continues to recover from an orbital fracture to his left eye and a nasal fracture.
That means Rondo will miss the three home games the Mavs play Saturday against Portland, Monday against the Los Angeles Clippers and Wednesday against Utah. The week-long All-Star break happens after that, thus affording Rondo more time to recover.
The injury to Rondo occurred when teammate Richard Jefferson’s knee accidently collided with the four-time All-Star’s face during a game in Orlando last Saturday.
Since that unfortunate injury, Rondo has already missed the Mavs’ past three games against Minnesota, Golden State and Sacramento. The Mavs beat Minnesota and Sacramento, but lost to Golden State while Rondo was sidelined.
