Baylor’s Prince should be an immediate impact player for the Atlanta Hawks

Taurean Prince should have a terrific rookie season in the NBA.

Drafted No. 12 overall by the Utah Jazz in Thursday’s NBA Draft, Prince was quickly traded to the Atlanta Hawks in a pre-draft arrangement. But the fast-paced offense the Hawks run should be an ideal situation for the 6-foot-8, 220-pound forward from Baylor.

Prince came on strong in his final two seasons at Baylor. Two years ago he was the Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year and second-team all-Big 12, and this past season he was named first-team all-Big 12.

The important aspects about Prince are that his game is all about grit, hustle and determination. In that regard, he’ll remind many of Jae Crowder of Boston, who flourished with the Dallas Mavericks for two-plus seasons before he was traded to the Celtics on Dec. 18, 2014.

A solid defender, Prince has a high basketball IQ, loves to play the passing lanes and can get 12-18 points per game. The Hawks will enjoy what he brings to the table.
