About the Wings: The franchise relocated from Tulsa in the off-season, where the Shock went 18-16 in 2015 to finish third in the Western Conference. Tulsa was swept by Phoenix in a first-round playoff series 2-0. In an WNBA general managers poll released Friday, Wings guard Skylar Diggins tied for second with two others in voting for best guard. Wings first-round draft pick Aerial Powers was second in GM preseason voting for Rookie of the Year.

About the Fever: Last year’s team was 20-14 and finished third in the Eastern Conference, but upset Chicago and New York on the way to the Eastern Conference championship and WNBA Finals. The Fever lost in the Finals to Minnesota 3-2. In preseason voting, half the league GMs picked the Fever to lead the Eastern Conference in wins this season. The Fever is led by forward Tamika Catchings, who is playing her 15th and final season. Catchings led Duncanville High School to a girls Texas state basketball title in 1997.
