Dirk Nowitzki’s celebrity baseball game set for June 10 in Frisco

Dirk Nowitzki is at it again.

The Dallas Mavericks superstar will host his Dirk Nowitzki’s 2016 Heroes Celebrity Baseball Game on Friday, June 10, at 7 p.m. at the Dr Pepper Ballpark in Frisco.

Nowitzki led the Mavericks in scoring last season as the team reached the playoffs for the 15th time in the past 16 seasons. They were eliminated 4-1 in a gritty battle with Oklahoma City in the first round of the playoffs.

Nowitzki opted out of the final year of his contract with the Mavericks this week, but plans to return. He will turn 38 years old on June 19.

Among the celebrities scheduled for the game are Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Cole Beasley and defensive back Byron Jones; Mavericks players Deron Williams**, Chandler Parsons, J.J. Barea, David Lee, Devin Harris**, Wesley Matthews, JaVale McGee, Salah Mejri, Justin Anderson, Jeremy Evans, Dwight Powell and coach Rick Carlisle**; Plano-raised actor Chace Crawford (TV series Gossip Girl and Blood and Oil) and actor Geoff Stults (TV series The Odd Couple and upcoming movies Hey Brother and The Kicker); and former Texas Rangers players David Murphy and Michael Young.

Williams, Harris and Carlisle will attend, but will not participate.

Nationally-acclaimed singer, songwriter and Broadway performer Shayna Steele will perform the National Anthem.

Tickets are on sale now for $9, $13, $17 and $20 at Ticketmaster (800-745-3000 or ticketmaster.com) or at the Dr Pepper Ballpark Box Office during office hours.

Will call will open at 10 a.m. the day of the game (June 10). Tickets also will be available at the door.

Last year’s game sold out.

Proceeds will benefit the Dirk Nowitzki Foundation and the Heroes Foundation.
