Mavericks backup center David Lee might miss game against OKC
The Dallas Mavericks probably will be without backup center David Lee when they hit the road to play Game 1 of their first-round playoff series against Oklahoma City at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Chesapeake Energy Arena.
Lee injured his right heel against San Antonio Wednesday.
“Lee is going to be listed as doubtful, but I would say that he’s very doubtful to the point where I would be very shocked if he played tomorrow,’’ coach Rick Carlisle said after Friday’s practice. “He’s mostly likely out, but we’ll leave a very small window of possibility open.’’
Carlisle said he hopes to have Lee at some point during this best-of-seven series.
“The timetable right now is impossible,’’ Carlisle said. “But he’s getting the treatment and he’s a motivated guy and he’s a great competitor and he desperately wants to play.
“But we’re not going to put him out there unless it’s right.’’
Carlisle also said guards J. J. Barea (strained right groin) and Devin Harris (sprained left thumb) are doing “a little bit better’’ and he expects them to play in Game 1.
