Kings run over Dallas Mavericks 133-111
Why the Mavs lost: For a team in the middle of a heated playoff race, the Dallas Mavericks sure aren’t playing like it.
The lottery-bound Sacramento Kings ran a clinic on Dallas on Sunday en route to claiming a 133-111 victory at Sleep Train Arena. It’s the most points the Mavs have allowed in a game this season.
The loss dropped the Mavs to 0-3 on this very important four-game road trip that ends Monday night in Denver. The loss also put a serious dent in the playoff chances of the Mavs, who are 35-38 and seeded ninth in the Western Conference standings.
Sacramento beat up the Mavs inside and held a 38-16 scoring advantage inside the paint – in the first half. The Kings never trailed and were ahead by a whopping 101-79 margin after the third period.
Key players: DeMarcus Cousins led the Kings with 20 points and 12 rebounds, Willie Cauley-Stein scored 21 points, Darren Collison had 17 points, and Seth Curry and Rajon Rondo collected 11 points and 11 assists, and Kosta Koufos and Omri Casspi had 10 points each.
