Mavs on four-game losing streak after 102-96 loss to the Pistons

AP

Why the Mavs lost: The frustrations continued for the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night as they dropped a 102-96 decision to the Detroit Pistons at American Airlines Center.

It was the fourth straight loss for the Mavs and marked the first time this season they’ve dropped four consecutive games. It also is the Mavs’ longest losing streak since they lost four in a row from Jan. 23-28, 2015.

The Mavs are 0-2 on this three-game home stand, which ends with Saturday’s 1 p.m. contest against the Indiana Pacers.

Reggie Jackson launched a long 3-pointer with 58.1 seconds on a broken play to give the Pistons a 98-92 lead and basically salted this game away.

With Houston’s win over Philadelphia, the Mavs are now just half-a-game ahead of the eighth-seeded Rockets in the Western Conference standings.

Key players: Andre Drummond led the Pistons with 25 points and 17, Marcus finished with 20 points and seven rebounds, Tobias Harris collected 19 points and seven rebounds,

Key stat: The Pistons outrebounded the Mavs 51-40.

Records: Pistons 33-31, Mavs 33-32
