Kings snap long skid in Dallas, beat Mavericks 104-101

AP

Why the Mavs lost: After over 13 long years, the Sacramento Kings finally won a game in Dallas. For the first time since Feb. 27, 2003, the Kings were able to come into Dallas and defeat the Mavericks. DeMarcus Cousins collected 22 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Kings to a 104-101 victory over the Mavs on Thursday night at Airlines Center.

Entering Thursday’s game, the Kings had dropped 22 consecutive games in Dallas.

With the loss, the Mavs ended this season-high six-game home stand with a 4-2 record. And it was a brutal loss for the Mavs, considering the Kings had dropped 12 of their previous 16 games, and Dallas is mired in a fierce battle to advance to the playoffs.

Key players: In addition to the exploits by Cousins, former Mavs point guard Rajon Rondo finished with 18 points and 12 assists, Marco Belinelli scored 16 points, Darren Collison had 14, Ben McLemore scored 10.

Key stat: The Kings shot 52.5 percent form the field.

Records: Kings 25-35, Mavs 33-29
