About the Mavericks: They are 2-1 on this season-long six-game homestand. … Dallas rallied to defeat the Denver Nuggets on Friday 122-116 in overtime. The Mavericks fell behind by 23 points late in the second quarter, and then scored the last nine points of regulation in the final 1:45 to send the game into overtime. … Starting center Zaza Pachulia only played 8  1/2 minutes against the Nuggets, and one of the Mavericks’ backup centers, JaVale McGee, was on the inactive list for the third consecutive game. … Guard Raymond Felton started the second half in place of Pachulia, and newcomer David Lee played 14 of his 25 minutes in the second half and finished with 14 points and 14 rebounds.

About the Timberwolves: Minnesota has perhaps the best duo of young talent in the NBA in Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns. Wiggins was the league’s Rookie of the Year last season and Towns is favored to win the award this season. … Wiggins averages 20.8 ppg, and the ball will be in his hands often. Towns averages 17.3 ppg, is tied for eighth in the NBA in rebounds (10.2 rpg), is ninth in blocks (1.81), and seventh in double-doubles (32). … Towns had 28 points and 13 rebounds during Monday’s 124-122 victory over Boston. In a 112-105 win over Chicago on Feb. 6, Towns had 26 points and 17 rebounds. … Two-time slam dunk champion Zach Lavine is averaging 12.9 ppg for Minnesota, which won at New Orleans on Saturday.
