Why the Mavs won: The Dallas Mavericks lost the first quarter yet again Friday night. But this time it didn’t matter. The Mavs rallied from a 23-point deficit and went on to win a hard-fought 122-116 victory against the Denver Nuggets in overtime at American Airlines Center. It was the largest comeback of the season for the Mavs. Raymond Felton scored eight of his 16 points in overtime as the Mavs tallied the final nine points in regulation to force the overtime session. Denver led 55-32 with 3:14 left in the first half. But the Mavs started guard Raymond Felton in place of center Zaza Pachulia to open the second half, and the Dallas offense started sizzling from there with the smaller lineup.

Key players: Chandler Parsons led the Mavs with 27 points, Dirk Nowitzki scored 20 points, Wesley Matthews tallied 17, Raymond Felton collected 16 and Deron Williams poured in 12. Meanwhile, David Lee came off the bench and finished with 14 points and 14 rebounds in 26 minutes in just his second game with the Mavs.

Key stat: The Mavs shot 51.1 percent from the field.

Records: Nuggets 23-36, Mavs 31-28
