Mavericks recap: Matthews scores 21 as Dallas hammers 76ers 129-103
Why the Mavericks won: Wesley Matthews broke out of a shooting slump Sunday night, scoring 21 points to help the slumping Dallas Mavericks to a convincing 129-103 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers at American Airlines Center. The win, which came with Dirk Nowitzki becoming the sixth player in NBA history to score at least 29,000 points, was just the second over the past seven games for the Mavs. It was the Mavs’ biggest scoring game of the season.
Key players: Besides Matthews, Nowitzki scored 18 points for the Mavs, Chandler Parsons tossed in 15 points, Deron Williams contributed 15 points and eight assists, J.J. Barea poured in 12 points and Raymond Felton collected 10 points.
Key stat: The 129 points were the most the Mavs have scored this season, and their 66 points in the first half were the most in any half this season.
