Dirk Nowitzki’s haircut creates buzz

At age 37, Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki has gone through his share of odd hairdos during his lifetime. And his latest one is drawing as many laughs as some of his others.

Over the weekend, Nowitzki decided to cut the locks off his head and toss his hair up in the air a bit. What was left was, well, a bit comical, according to his teammates.

Owner Mark Cuban related Nowitzki’s new haircut to the 18-year veteran being left off this year’s All-Star roster.

“All I can tell you is him not making the All-Star is probably for the best,’’ Cuban said, while laughing. “I have a good understanding of brand value.

“You don’t see him putting up a picture of himself as his Twitter idea or anything, do you?’’

Actually, as one Mavericks player after another kept chiding Nowitzki about his new hairdo, the 13-time All-Star did use his Twitter acocunt to post a picture of his new haircut.

"Whole team calls me Ellen DeGeneres with my new hairdo!!!,’’ Nowitzki wrote on his Twitter account. At the end of his tweet, Nowitzki put @TheEllenShow.

Cuban laughed again when he heard that, and then saiid: “He said it, not me. Separated at birth, huh? You’ve got to love Dirk.’’

In response to Nowitzki’s DeGeneres comment, forward Chandler Parsons simply said on his Twitter account: "#twinsies."

DeGeneres is a popular talk show host.
