Why the Mavs lost: The Golden State Warriors broke open a close game Wednesday night by outscoring the Dallas Mavericks 30-13 over the last 7:09 of the third period. That outburst came after Golden State was clinging to a slim 65-64 lead and helped the Warriors upend the Mavs 127-107 at Oracle Arena. It was the 40th straight home win for the Warriors dating to last year and including 22 games this season.

Key players: Klay Thompson scored 26 of his season-high 45 points in the first half for the Warriors and was 14-of-20 from the field overall. Thompson hadn’t scored more than 24 points in his last nine games. Also for the Warriors, Stephen Curry, who didn’t play in the Mavericks’ win in Dallas, was limited to three points in the first half and 14 for the game, his second lowest total of the season and less than half his 30.3 average. He also contributed nine assists. Harrison Barnes scored 13 and Draymond Green added 10 for the Warriors. The Mavericks were led by Chandler Parsons, who had team highs in points (23) and rebounds (7).

Key stat: The Warriors were 14-of-29 (48.3%) from 3-point range and distributed 33 assists.

Records: Mavs 26-22; Warriors 42-4
