Dwight Powell will compete in Rising Stars Challenge during All-Star Weekend
Dallas Mavericks forward-center Dwight Powell will compete for the World Team in the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge during All-Star Weekend, the team announced Wednesday.
The game will be played at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto on Friday, Feb. 12, and will air live on TNT at 8 p.m. CT.
The 6-foot-11, 240-pound Powell averages 6.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 17.0 minutes in 45 games. He has posted three double-doubles and has scored in double figures 14 times this season.
The second-year forward-center becomes the first player to represent the Mavericks in the annual Rookie-Sophomore game since Devin Harris at the 2006 All-Star Weekend in Houston.
Powell is one of two Toronto-born players on this year’s World Team roster. Andrew Wiggins of Minnesota is the other.
