Why the Mavs loss: The Oklahoma City Thunder got 24 points from Kevin Durant and went on to post a 109-106 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night at American Airlines Center. Chandler Parsons missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer which would have sent the Mavs into an overtime game for the fifth straight home game. The Thunder are now 3-0 against the Mavs this season.

Key players: Other than Durant, Russell Westbrook had 16 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for the Thunder. Also for OKC, Serge Ibaka scored 14 points, and Enis Kanter (16 points, nine rebounds), Dion Waiters (13 points) and Kyle Singler (10) were huge factors off the bench.

Key stat: OKC beat the Mavs on the boards 47-33.

Records: Thunder 33-12, Mavs 25-20
