Playing overtime games is becoming a habit for the Dallas Mavericks.

They beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 106-94 in overtime Wednesday night.

It was their fourth consecutive home overtime game and the first time an NBA team has accomplish the feat since 1951.

“We’ll find a way and that’s credit to our team. Looking on the other side of it, we need to find ways to avoid overtime,” Mavericks guard Wesley Matthews said. “Sometimes, they’re inevitable, but we still have enough in the tank and enough fight to pull it out.”

Dallas has played in six overtime games this season, including one double-overtime game. They are 5-1 in those games. The only loss was a 110-107 home setback against Cleveland on Jan. 12.

The franchise record for most overtime games in a season is eight.

The 1995-’96 team was 4-4 in overtime games, including 3-3 at home and 1-1 on the road. They were 2-0 in double overtime games at home.

The 1997-’98 team was also 4-4 in overtime games, including 3-2 at home and 1-2 on the road. They won a double overtime game on the road.

The 2009-’10 team was 5-3 in overtime games, including 2-2 at home and 3-1 on the road.

The NBA record for most overtime games in a season is 14 by Philadelphia during the 2000-2001 season.
