Mavericks recap: Poor shooting gives Mavs no chance to end Spurs’ home dominance

Why the Mavericks lost: The San Antonio Spurs extended their home court record this season to a perfect 24-0 Sunday with a 112-83 victory over the Dallas Mavericks at AT&T Center. The loss ended the Mavericks’ road trip with a 1-2 record. Dallas returns home on Monday to host the Boston Celtics. After scoring just 14 points in the first quarter, the Spurs outscored the Mavs 32-20 in both the second and third quarters to blow the game open.

Key players: The Spurs were led by LaMarcus Aldridge with 23 points and seven rebounds. San Antonio is 12-0 this season when Aldrich leads the team in scoring. Boris Diaw (16 points) and Kawhi Leonard (15 points) (23 points, seven rebounds), Boris Diaw (16 points), Kawhi Leonard (15 points) and rookie swingman Jonathon Simmons (14) joined Aldrich in double figures.

Key stat: The Mavs shot a season-low 35.8 percent from the field, including Dirk Nowitzki going 2-for-10, in losing their 11th consecutive regular season game in San Antonio. Dallas’ last road victory in the series was Nov. 26, 2010.
