Why the Mavericks lost: Kyrie Irving hit a late 3-point field goal and the Cleveland Cavaliers won their eighth consecutive game as they posted a 110-107 victory over the Dallas Mavericks in overtime Tuesday night at American Airlines Center. Irving’s 3-pointer gave the Cavs a four-point lead with 13 seconds remaining.

Key players: The Cavaliers were led by LeBron James, who finished his all-around floor game with 27 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. Irving collected 22 points and nine assists, Kevin Love had 15 points and 11 rebounds, Matthew Dellavedova scored 12 points, and JR Smith, Timofey Mozgov and Iman Shumpert added 10 points apiece.

Key stat: The Cavs shot 49.4 percent from the field to only 41.2 percent for the Mavericks.
