Warriors guard Stephen Curry will not play against the Mavericks tonight

Golden State’s All-Star guard Stephen Curry will not play in tonight’s game against the Dallas Mavericks.

Interim coach Luke Walton made the announcement during the pregame media session.

The Warriors (29-1) face the Mavericks (18-13) at 7:30 p.m. at American Airlines Center.

Curry has a bruised left lower leg and is listed as day to day. The seven-year veteran missed Wednesday’s shootaround because he was getting an magnetic resonance imaging exam at the time.

Walton admits that Curry wasn’t completely healthy when he picked up his sixth career triple-double Monday night against the Sacramento Kings.

"He’s been playing at less than 100 percent,’’ Walton said.

Mavericks guard Wesley Matthews knows the Warriors are still good without Curry. They still have Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Andre Iguodala, Shaun Livingston and Andrew Bogut.

"They’re still a great team without him,’’ Matthews said. "Obviously they’re not the same team – you can’t take away the MVP off the team.

"But Klay’s still a helluva player, Draymond’s still a helluva player, Iguodala is making plays, Bogut is playing well. Their bench, they still have weapons. Shawun Livingston is a great backup point guard. It’s going to be a tough ballgame whether (Curry) plays or whether he doesn’t.’’
