DALLAS The Dallas Mavericks’ top two scorers missed Friday morning’s shootaround at American Airlines Center, and are questionable for tonight’s home game against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Power forward Dirk Nowitzki and shooting guard Monta Ellis both missed the shootaround with an illness. Coach Rick Carlisle said he wasn’t sure what ailment the players were trying to recover from.
“I don’t know what it is,’’ Carlisle said. “Dirk’s had a stomach thing that’s been bothering him for awhile, and I think he’s getting that checked out, so hopefully it’s not serious.
“Monta is just a little under the weather. Tonight we’ll find out and we’ll see what’s what and we’ll go from there.’’

Ellis leads the Mavericks in scoring (20.9 points), assists (4.5), steals (1.7) and minutes (34.1). Nowitzki averages 18.6 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.
Ellis has played all 112 regular season games for Dallas since joining the Mavericks last season. Nowitzki missed two games earlier this season just to rest his aching body.
