Mavericks recap: James Harden’s late basket helps Rockets sink Dallas 100-96

Why the Rockets won: James Harden hit a key basket with 7.4 seconds left and Houston held on to defeat the Dallas Mavericks 100-96 on Friday night at American Airlines Center. Harden finished the game with 25 points, eight rebounds and nine assists.

Key players: In addition to the 25 points the Rockets received from Harden, they also got key contributions from Trevor Ariza (18 points, six rebounds), Terrence Jones (17 points, nine rebounds) and Patrick Beverley (14 points).

Key stat: The Rockets were major factors from 3-point range, converting on 12-of-26 shots from beyond the arc.
