Why the Thunder won: Even without the injured Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City still had another superstar to turn to in Russell Westbrook. And the lightning-quick point guard responded with 31 points, 11 assists and five steals as the Thunder snapped the Dallas Mavericks’ six-game winning streak with a 117-114 victory Sunday night at Chesapeake Energy Arena.

Key players: Besides Westbrook, the Thunder got 16 points and nine rebounds from Serge Ibaka, and 14 points apiece from Anthony Morrow and Dion Waiters. Deron Williams led the Mavs with 20 points, six rebounds and six assists, Wesley Matthews had 15 points

Key stat: The Mavs did themselves in by going just 16 of 28 from the free throw line. The Mavs shot 53 percent from the field, 52.6 percent from 3-point range, and 57.1 percent from the free throw line.

Records: Mavs 9-5, Thunder 8-6
