Dallas Mavericks

Mavericks fall flat at New Orleans

Why the Mavs lost: The Mavericks apparently left their game back in Dallas. They were down 12-0 at the 9:21 mark of the first period and were already 0-of-3 shooting with three turnovers. The inept performance to start Tuesday’s game led to New Orleans’ 120-105 victory over the Mavs.

Key players: Ryan Anderson finished with 25 points and 11 rebounds for New Orleans, and was 10 of 16 from the field. Anthony Davis only played the first half for the Pelicans because of a right hip contusion, but still managed 17 points and seven rebounds in just 19 minutes.

Key stat: After getting within 39-36 of the Pelicans, the Mavs allowed New Orleans to go on a 17-0 run and bolt ahead 55-36 with 2:19 to go in the first half.

Records: Pelicans 1-6; Mavs 3-4
