Dalembert among four players waived

Star-Telegram

DALLAS – The Dallas Mavericks cut their roster down to 16 players Saturday by waiving center Samuel Dalembert, guard Tu Holloway, and forwards Brandon Ashley and Jamil Wilson.

In four preseason games for the Mavs, Dalembert averaged 4.5 points and 4.5 reobnds in 12.8 minutes. He had been in a constant battle with JaVale McGee, Zaza Pachulia and rookie free agent Salah Mejri to claim one of the team’s three center positions.

Ashley appeared in all seven preseason games and had modest averages of 1.1 point and 2.6 rebounds in 12.1 minutes per contest. Wilson also played in all seven preseason games and finished with 2.4 points and 1.6 rebounds in 17.5 minutes per game.

Unfortunately for Holloway, he didn’t get any in-game experience to show what he can do. The Mavs just signed him on Thursday.

The Mavs have to release at least one more player by Monday. The NBA maximum number of players a team can have going into the regular season is 15.
