Dallas Mavericks sign Daniel Gafford to new contract ahead of 2025 NBA Draft

The Dallas Mavericks signed Daniel Gafford to a three-year $54 million contract, worth up to $60 million according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Gafford is headed into his seventh season in the NBA, and his third with the Mavs, and has formed one of the NBA’s elite frontcourts since being traded to Dallas during the 2023-24 NBA season.

Last season, Gafford averaged 12.3 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game but missed 21 games after suffering a right knee sprain in February.

The extension comes days before the 2025 NBA Draft, set to take place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, where the Mavs own the No. 1 selection and are expected to add their frontcourt by taking Duke product Cooper Flagg.

Flagg alongside Gafford, Anthony Davis, PJ Washington, Dereck Lively and Naji Marshall would form a formidable two-way unit, allowing the Mavs to have flexibility with their lineups.
