Jason Kidd, Knicks have ‘mutual’ interest for head coach job, ESPN reports

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported that Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd had interest in the New York Knicks head coaching vacancy.

Marc Stein previously reported that the Knicks were interested in Kidd, but said the Mavs would most likely deny any request to interview the head coach.

However, Windhorst said he sees the Mavs with three options: either tell Kidd they’re willing to trade him, tell him they refuse to trade him and he’ll have to honor his contract, or try to make Kidd have zero interest in coaching the Knicks.

Kidd is one of the few NBA head coaches to be a part of a trade previously, when the Brooklyn Nets traded him to the Milwaukee Bucks for two second-round picks in 2014.

The Hall-of-Fame point guard is no stranger to the Knicks. He spent the 2012-13 season with them for his final NBA season.
