Artist creates ‘Fire Nico’ mural ahead of Luka Doncic’s Dallas return
Luka Doncic will play his first game in the American Airlines Center on Wednesday when the Los Angeles Lakers come to Dallas, and fans are still letting the team know how unhappy they are with his trade.
Fort Worth-based artist Juan Velazquez, who previously made a mural of Doncic when he was traded from the team, along with Armando Aguirre and Chris Taylor, put up another mural, calling for the firing of Dallas Mavericks GM Nico Harrison.
The mural shows a Dallas Mavericks hat with tape over the logo with the words “Fire Nico” on the tape. It references a hat worn by Taylor, which took off social media after he wore it to a game and was removed by security.
Tension has been high between fans and the Mavs since the Doncic trade, with fans being removed from the AAC on multiple occasions for various critiques of the trade in the arena.
Expect plenty of “Fire Nico” hats and shirts at the AAC when the Mavs and Lakers clash at 6:30 p.m. The game will air on ESPN.
