The Dallas Mavericks trade guard Quentin Grimes to the Philadelphia 76ers

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Dallas Mavericks continued retooling their team before the NBA’s trade deadline on Thursday, trading Quentin Grimes and returning the Philadelphia 76ers’ 2025 second-round pick in exchange for Caleb Martin.

Grimes is playing in his first season with the Mavs after being traded from the New York Knicks during the offseason. This year, Grimes averaged 10.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.

Martin, in his sixth NBA season after going undrafted in the 2019 NBA Draft, was in his first season in Philadelphia after signing a four-year $35 million contract. Martin is averaging 9.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game this season.

Martin fits the player archetype that GM Nico Harrison has spoken about since trading Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, as another defensive-minded forward for the Mavs.
