Who will air Dallas Mavericks games for free as part of new broadcast agreement?

The Dallas Mavericks have announced a new multi-year broadcast rights agreement with TEGNA that will allow fans to watch games for free over the air.

The deal includes all games except nationally televised games that are exclusively broadcast. The games will air on KMPX Dallas-Ft. Worth and 15 games are set to be broadcast simultaneously on WFAA.

The first game to air as a part of this new agreement will be the Mavs road opener against the Phoenix Suns on Oct. 26.

Team governor Patrick Dumont talked about the excitement of bringing the Mavs to 10 million households in Texas.

“We are looking forward to giving Dallas Mavericks fans every opportunity possible to watch our exciting team build on the momentum of its incredible run to the NBA Finals last season,” said Dumont. “Our new agreement with TEGNA helps meaningfully deliver on that goal by broadcasting more games to more local homes than in any period in franchise history. Through our new partnership with TEGNA and our expanded relationship with WFAA, more Mavs fans than ever before will be able to watch the team they love.”

This agreement comes after the Mavs severed ties with Bally Sports who previously held their broadcast rights.
