The Dallas Mavericks own the 10th pick in 2023 NBA Draft. What’s the history of the pick?
The Dallas Mavericks own the 10th selection in the 2023 NBA Draft. They must decide if they want to retain the selection or trade it. If they keep it, who should they select?
If the Mavs do select the pick what caliber of player can they reasonably expect with the 10th pick? Looking at the last 15 No. 10 picks in the NBA Draft offers a mixed bag on what the Mavs can expect.
Here are the last 15 players selected at No. 10.
Wizards: Guard Johnny Davis
Grizzlies: Forward Ziaire Williams
Suns: Power forward Jalen Smith
Hawks: Small forward Cam Reddish
76ers: Small forward Mikal Bridges
Kings: Power forward Zach Collins
Bucks: Center Thon Maker
Heat: Small forward Justise Winslow
76ers: Guard Elfrid Payton
Trail Blazers: Guard CJ McCollum
Hornets: Guard Austin Rivers
Bucks: Shooting guard Jimmer Fredette
Pacers Small forward Paul George
Bucks: Guard Brandon Jennings
Nets: Center Brook Lopez
Out of these 15 players only one (Paul George) has been awarded an All-NBA selection and only two (George and Brook Lopez) have been selected as all-stars.
Some of these players such as Jimmer Fredette, Thon Maker and Elfrid Payton had short NBA careers.
Others were good but not great players over their careers like Austin Rivers, Brandon Jennings and CJ McCollum.
Based on the last 15 selections the Mavs should expect a good role player to be available with the 10th pick.
