Who do experts prognosticate the Dallas Mavericks will draft in the 2023 NBA Draft?
The 2023 NBA Draft is approaching and the Dallas Mavericks are heading into a critical offseason. After floundering at the end of the season and missing the playoffs, the Mavs need their next draft pick to contribute immediately.
The Mavs currently have an 80% chance to earn a top-ten selection and if they don’t their pick will go to the New York Knicks. The lottery to set the picks is Tuesday; the draft is June 22.
Assuming the Mavs keep their pick who do experts believe they should draft?
Chinmay Vaidya, DraftKings
We’ll see what the Mavericks ultimately do with Kyrie Irving, but Hawkins is a great fit with this team. He’s going to be counted on as a knockdown shooter immediately while being able to grow as a secondary playmaker with the bench unit.

This year’s NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament does not feature some of the elite prospects in this year’s NBA draft, such as French center Victor Wembanyama, G League Ignite guard Scoot Henderson, and Amen and Ausar Thompson of Overtime Elite.
However, March Madness did include a host of talents who could well find themselves chosen in the lottery portion of the draft.

His length, athleticism and willingness to defend at the college level should translate well to the NBA. While he probably won’t be a star, the Mavs already have their two stars and simply need defense and shooting around them, and Hendricks checks both of those boxes.

An intriguing SG with a beautiful release on his jumper and great 3pt ability. Is starting to score more inside the arc and is a pesky defender.

He is tough to stop as the ball handler in transition and averaged 20.7 points and 12.9 rebounds with 2.3 assists, 1.0 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game during his 11 games in the G League after the All-Star break.

Jared Koch, Fan Nation
A versatile defender that can also space the floor? Yeah, the Mavericks could use some of that. Hendricks is the easy choice here.

I’ve been a believer in Hood-Schifino since I first saw him as a high school prospect playing for Team Thad on the Nike EYBL circuit. He’s a combo guard with size who should be a more-dependable 3-point shooter than he showed in his one season at Indiana.

Tyler Byrum and Chase Hughes, NBC Sports
In a draft that is void of big men aside from Wembayama, Jarace Walker has the opportunity to be selected in the top half of the lottery. His per-40 rebounding numbers (9.8) given his utilization at Houston are impressive. Already, he has the power and body to match up against current NBA stars.

Adam Finkelstein, 247 Sports
Hendricks shot over 39% from three in his freshman season at UCF while blocking nearly 2 shots per game and simultaneously showing he could move his feet on the perimeter.
