Dallas Mavericks stun Phoenix Suns with dominating Game 7 road win
The Dallas Mavericks advanced to their first Western Conference Finals since 2011 — their lone championship season — after a shocking blowout Game 7 win over the Phoenix Suns.
Luka Doncic led the Mavs to a 123-90 win with 35 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. He had 27 points in the first half to match the Suns entire team.
The Mavs play the Golden State Warriors in a best-of-7 Western Conference Finals beginning with Game 1 at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Chase Center in San Francisco.
Dallas never trailed and led by 30 at halftime. The Mavs built a lead as big as 42 points in the second half, the season-worst for the Suns.
The top-seeded Suns led the NBA with 64 wins this season. That didn’t faze Doncic or the fourth-seeded Mavs, who became the first team in the series to win on the road.
The Suns are only the second team to win 64 or more games and not advance to the conference finals. The other team? The 2006-07 Mavericks.
Spencer Dinwiddie scored a career playoff-high 30 points and Jalen Brunson added 24 points. The Mavs made 19 of 39 3-point attempts for nearly 49%.
The Suns shot 37.9% from the field.
