Nowitzki prepping for his fourth annual charity baseball game

FRISCO – After taking the baton from Mike Modano in 2012, this is the fourth year Dirk Nowitzki will host the Heroes Celebrity Baseball Game.

And yet another packed house is expected to crowd into Dr Pepper Ballpark when the game is held Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

Nowitzki and his crew has rounded up celebrities to play in the fun-filled game such as Devin Harris and Charlie Villanueva of the Dallas Mavericks, Dez Bryant, Terrance Williams, Dan Bailey, Cole Beasley, Tyron Smith and Lance Dunbar of the Dallas Cowboys, Tyler Seguin of the Dallas Stars, and former Texas Rangers player Michael Young.

"This is my fourth year now (hosting this charity event) and we’ve had a lot of great celebrities roll through here,’’ Nowitzki, the Mavs’ 13-time All-Star, said. "We had a Jonas brother here one year.

"It’s been incredible support from the fans and from the celebs. I just think it’s a fun event for both sides.’’

Of course, many more celebrities will fill out the two rosters than the aforementioned ones when the White Sox battle the Blue Sox on Saturday. Mavs coach Rick Carlisle will manage the White Sox and center Tyson Chandler will mange the Blue Sox.

"The celebs get to have fun,’’ Nowitzki said. "You meet other guys from other areas and fields of sports, and you play a fun game in front of a packed house.

"I heard the game is already almost sold out. Tickets are going for crazy amounts on Stub Hub. That makes me feel humble, and we’re looking forward to having another great event tomorrow.’’

Some tickets behind home plate were fetching $236.25 on Stub Hub, while tickets along the third base line were going for a whopping $470.25.
