Durant signing with Dallas is a massive long shot, but what about Butler or Kyrie?

It appears as though Kevin Durant may have learned from his departure from the Oklahoma City Thunder in the summer of 2016.

The former NBA MVP and Golden State Warriors forward is set to become a member of the 2019 free agency class.

On Tuesday, Durant told ESPN he’s going to “be honest” about the process and decision, no matter where he ends up.

If he does depart the Bay Area, is there even a slight chance he could he land in Dallas?

DeAndre Jordan aside, the Mark Cuban and the Mavericks haven’t landed very many top-tier free agents. But the team will have the necessary cap money to give Durant a max contract, if that is what he desires.

Durant also spent his one collegiate season in Austin playing for then-head coach Rick Barnes and the Texas Longhorns.

As for Boston Celtics guard Kyrie Irving and Minnesota Timberwolves forward Jimmy Butler end up in new locations?

But one ESPN study predicts the New York Knicks are the most likely team to acquire both Irving and Butler. A few reports have made that case, too.

As for Durant, most oddsmakers list the Warriors and Knicks as the top contenders for his services.

Dallas is not listed as a potential destination for Durant in that ESPN report.

As for Butler and Irving, the Mavericks are the seventh-most likely team to acquire them, per ESPN’s forecast model.
